happy to lay here, just happy to be here

Today I purchased my plane ticket to go back to Nicaragua! I will be working there May 8 - 20. Then I come home for a few days (to run a marathon...i obviously had a wonderful concept of the timing of this all) before I jet off to Europe for a month of adventures with my now *FOUR* other travel companions. Awesome.  Though I'm not so sure graduation is exactly sending me into the "real world."

Here's a clip from last year's trip to Nicaragua. Éngel (aka "Engine..." there was some slight confusion about his name when we first arrived) was instantly my BFF. He was the most loyal, patient 11-year-old I could imagine, and I so badly wanted to give him the world.  He liked conducting interviews with my camera in our downtime -- this one is from after a church service at La Estrella de Belén ("The Star of Bethlehem").

He tells me his name is Éngel, he's 11 years old, and lives in Siares.  He likes to hang out with us, and his favorite sport is fútbol (soccer). He says he is thankful for our visit, for our kindness, our friendship, and the love that we've shown him and the village.  Before we left, he slipped a woven bracelet around my wrist. Yep, I cried!
